* Small class size- No more than 14 students per class
* Individualized Attention for students- Senior and Junior teacher per classroom with each teacher staying with the same class for 2 years!
* Math Curriculum in K-8 uses the outstanding University of Chicago Everyday Math.
* Students learn more than traditional pencil and paper math. Mental computation, problem solving and a greater range of solution methods are encouraged.
* Literacy Curriculum is a comprehensive program that addresses phonics, vocabulary development, reading fluency and comprehension. Spelling, writing, oral language development, print awareness and alphabet knowledge are also key components.
* Supportive Studies: Science, history and social sciences are all around us! Starting in kindergarten children learn to explore, ask questions and seek the answers. With home visits to explore and appreciate cultural differences to providing service projects in our community, StudentFirst Academy’s curriculum allows students to discover the world they live in.
* Hands on Learning-Lab and computer exercises built into each subject matter
* Longer School Days to support working families while providing physical activity, music, the arts and homework assistance.
* Exposure to the Cultural Arts -careers, cultures, and major courses of study are explored in the this program. Visiting artists, professionals and various art forms lead to the diversity and excellence of the students.
* High school program is advanced in all subject matter, with instructors that have a passion for their subject. Weekly Service projects. Upper School- Weekly mentoring and lesson plans to elementary school. Internships and job shadowing. College visits.
* Students who love to learn and are independent thinkers and independent doers.
* Field Trips and Community Service: Visited Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit Discovery Place, Charlotte, NC Visited Kennedy Space Center and had lunch with Astronaut William R. Pogue Cape Canaveral, FL Visited Museum of Natural History Manhattan, New York Visited King Tut exhibit Franklin Institute Philadelphia, Service - Friendship Trays, Metrolina Food Bank, Homeless Shelter, local churches Participated in a hurricane simulation at MOSI, Tampa, Florida
